We pride ourselves in our provision of international visits and communications with other educational institutions across the globe. This work helps to foster an international ethos throughout the school. Our students have the opportunity to travel to other countries, and we often play host to schools from other countries.
Erasmus Project
Erasmus is an EU Student Exchange programme. "The objective of Erasmus is to promote transnational learning mobility and cooperation between organisations and policy-makers, as a means of improving quality and excellence, supporting inclusion and equity, and boosting creativity and innovation in the fields of education, professional education, youth and sport. In all these sectors, the aim is to provide support, through life-long learning, for the educational, professional and personal development of participants in Europe and beyond." - Wikipedia
The Howard School is currently partnered with schools in Germany, Croatia, mainland Spain and Mallorca, and students meet with their international peers to tour local landmarks and UNESCO sites, learn about international culture, and work together on collaborative projects.
In 2022, our students were given a guided walking tour around the ancient city of Varaždin led by the students of Gospodarska škola Varaždi, whilst also taking in the sights of waterfalls, lakes and stunning scenery of Plitvice Lakes National Park.
In 2023, students visited Palma, meeting the mayor, eating traditional Marratxí food and making ceramic statues.
Hosting
Since 2023, The Howard has welcomed students from the Netherlands through its doors, playing host to upwards of 20 students, and providing them with the opportunity to experience a day as a 'Howard Student', joining lessons and building friendships.
We have also welcomed Her Excellency, The High Commissioner of the Maldives Dr.Farah Faizal, as part of a partnership with Muhyiddin School in the Maldives. Students from each school have met virtually, developing a relationship between our 2 schools, and discussing important topics, such as the urgent topic of Global Warming. From brainstorming innovative solutions to discussing the power of collective action, our young minds are ready to make waves!
Visiting
Students at The Howard School have regular opportunities to travel abroad. Previous trips have included glacier walks and Northern Lights experiences in Iceland, historical visits to Ypres, residential trips to France, football competitions in Spain, and opportunities to take in the sights and sounds of Broadway on trips to New York.
