  • Teacher of English (£5k Golden Hello)

    Salary STPC MPS/UPS + £5k Golden Hello

    The Howard School is seeking to appoint a member of staff to join our English Department. The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic, talented, and passionate Teacher of English, to start from September 2025.

    The Howard School is in the top 3 non-selective schools out of 72 across Kent and Medway for boys performance. The English Department is 'Outstanding' and central to the school's success, led by an experinced Head of Department. The Department is very well resourced and behaviour at the school is exemplary.

    This is a full time (32.5 hours per week), permanent role, paid based on the STPC Main or Upper Teachers Pay Range, dependant on experience, as well as a Golden Hello payment as outlined below

    The school is offering a recruitment incentive of £5k. This is split into the following payments - £2,500 subject to the successful completion of a 6-month probationary period, and a further £2,500 to be paid upon one year service as a retention incentive.

    This post would suit an experienced or Early Career Teacher with good prospects for career development.

  • Teaching Assistant

    The Howard School is seeking to appoint a highly effective Teaching Assistant, to start with immediate effect. You will support pupils, parents, teachers and the school to establish a supportive and nurturing learning environment in which children make good academic progress. 

    This is an exciting time to join The Howard with a number of significant changes planned for the future that will support our move towards excellence. We seek to recruit an individual who shares our vision of providing a first-class education to all our students. You will show the drive, tenacity and ability to realise this ambition and demonstrate a commitment to your own education and yours and others’ professional development.

    This is a part time (27.5 hours per week), fixed term role, Term Time Only, paid based on the NJC pay scale D2 points 4-11 (FTE £24,404 - £27,269 – actual salary calculated on a pro rata basis).

    This is a fixed term position due to child linked school funding until 17th July 2026 (End of Term 6).

    The working pattern for this position consists of Monday-Thursday 8:30-14:55, and Friday 8:30-13:00, with a 30 minute unpaid lunch break each day.

  • Cleaner

    The Howard School

    Salary NJC E2 points 2-3 (FTE £23,656 - £24,027 - actual salary calculated on a pro rata basis)

    The Howard School is seeking to appoint a highly effective Cleaner, to start from February 2025.

    The successful candidate will be highly motivated, well organised, and have a good attention to detail.

    This is a part time, permanent role, paid based on NJC E2 point 2-3 (FTE £23,656- £24,027 – actual salary calculated on a pro rata basis).

    The working pattern will consist of 5 days a week, 15:00 - 20:30, Term Time Only + 6 weeks (44 weeks per year).
