Film Studies
The purpose of the Film Studies curriculum at The Howard School is:
- to introduce our students to one of the main cultural innovations of the 20th century and a major art form of the last hundred years.
- to foster a sense of enthusiasm and excitement for what is a powerful and culturally significant medium, inspiring a range of responses from the emotional to the reflective.
- to encourage our students to be open and receptive to a diverse range of contemporary, independent and global films and to be confident in expressing their opinions of these in verbal and written form.
- to be able to apply their knowledge and understanding of how films are constructed to their own filmmaking and screenwriting.
